AC/DC Electrical Theory
This AC/DC Electrical Theory course explores the fundamental concepts of AC and DC electrical systems. Learners will see how electricity is used for power and control in industrial and commercial applications. This training system covers industry-relevant technical skills including how to operate, install, design, and troubleshoot basic AC and DC electrical circuits for various applications. Students will study topics such as manual input devices, voltage measurement, lighting circuits, voltage dividers, and troubleshooting. They will use components to practice hands-on skills such as operating a circuit using a circuit breaker, testing a capacitor using a digital multimeter, connecting and operating a basic lighting circuit, locating a short circuit, and troubleshooting a transformer by measuring continuity. Students will also learn how to use a voltmeter to measure voltage, state a formula for calculating total parallel resistance, the functions of four electromagnetic devices, how switches are used in combination circuits, and how to troubleshoot a transformer. The class meets for a total of 24 hours of training.
