If you are a small business owner looking to grow and improve your business, Northeast Technology Center’s BIZ360 course lineup may be just the thing to get you going. Offered as supporting curriculum to the Business and Industry Services’ Business Development Program, the courses are also open to the public.
BIZ360 courses are designed to help business owners gain a 360-degree perspective of their company by getting focus, setting agendas, making decisions and taking action using the GrowthWheel® toolbox. Through this series of courses, business owners will examine 20 different areas of their business in the categories of Business Concept, Customer Relations, Organization and Operations. When business owners complete this course, they will leave with a detailed plan of action designed specifically to meet the needs of their business. These courses are presented in a highly-interactive, small group setting with a class limit of 10 participants.
The course series is scheduled to open with “Designing Products Customers Want” on September 6.
“There is a difference between a great idea and a sellable product,” said Liberty Shere, NTC Business Development Program Coordinator. “In this workshop participants will get the chance to review their product mix, decide how to design better products, make a roadmap for future products and find ways to test them first.”
Once a business gets a product base lined out, the next step is typically hiring staff, which is why the second BIZ360 course scheduled for October 4, is titled “Hire Your Next Employee With Profit.”
“Most often growth in a company comes along with hiring new staff,” said Shere. “In the second session, participants will work with decisions on which positions to fill, writing job descriptions, who to hire and how to make sure the new employee is a profitable investment.”
The third course, scheduled for November 1, will cover the topic of “Getting New Clients Through Networking.”
“Plain and simple, the majority of your business will come through networking,” said Shere. “From this workshop participants will bring home an overview of their network, a plan to both expand it and make use of it, and also develop clear prioritization of contacts.”
The fourth and final session, scheduled for December 6, will be “Convincing Lenders That Your Investment Pays Back.”
“Any business seeking funding to grow won’t want to miss this session,” said Shere. “The best way to convince a lender is to be able to show a profitable investment. This is where participants will prepare a bank presentation with investments to make, their risk and return, and suggestions for the type of financing and terms needed.”
The BIZ360 courses are scheduled for the first Tuesday of every month, beginning September 6. Each of the four sessions will last from 6-8 p.m. and will take place at the NTC Pryor Campus. Courses are free to clients enrolled in NTC's Business Development Program but participants should still complete the online registration form.
