A willingness to help others is one of the most common traits found in nurses, so it’s no surprise the Practical Nursing (PN) students at NTC Pryor are willing to do whatever it takes to help their classmates – even if it means trading in their scrubs for a pair of running shoes.

Superintendent's Message

Greetings All,

As you may have seen on the news, the state has suffered another revenue failure. This means that all state agencies will endure a reduction in their funding. NTC is not a state agency, however, the Oklahoma Department of CareerTech (ODCTE) is.  This means that the portion of our funding that passes through ODCTE will be reduced. We were anticipating this event when our budget for this year was approved. Any reduction in state funding means that we are able to do less for our patrons. However, prudent planning helps to minimize this negative situation.

On a more positive note, many of our students have competed in district or regional skills and leadership contests.  We will have quite a number of our outstanding students competing at state level competitions, so look for a recap of winners in upcoming TechKnows.

We are finalizing plans for a facility project at our Pryor Campus. This project will renovate the old building where MIT used to be located. Upon completion, our Electrical program will have a larger more suitable facility. Plans are also underway for a new addition at our Kansas Campus.  We will have updates on our projects in the next issue of TechKnow.

“Opportunity is missed by most because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” - Thomas Edison

Keep up the good work!

Fred
