The Women in Business Quarterly Luncheon has experienced tremendous success among businesswomen in both Rogers and Mayes Counties, and the event is slated to take place again during the month of August.
“These luncheons are made possible by partnerships between the local Chambers of Commerce and Northeast Technology Center,” said NTC’s Business Development Coordinator Liberty Shere, one of the event coordinators. “The Claremore and Pryor Area Chambers of Commerce have been fantastic to work with, and the event just keeps growing in size.”
The next two luncheons are scheduled to take place in August, one in Pryor on Aug. 16 and on in Claremore on Aug. 30. Tickets can be purchased through the Chambers, and the price includes the cost of lunch.
At the Pryor Women in Business Luncheon, the Honorable Rebecca Gore, special judge for Mayes, Craig and Rogers Counties will be the keynote speaker. Gore attended Northeastern State University before completing Law School at the University of Oklahoma. She has served for 14 years as the Mayes County Assistant District Attorney and has received multiple honors for her profession and volunteer service, including the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2007.
“One of the goals with this event is to create an atmosphere where women can build their skillset and network with their fellow women business leaders,” Shere said. “We know it can be tough to get away from the office, so we try hard to find guest speakers who have interesting stories and can offer practical advice for the ladies who attend.”
Those guests attending the Claremore Women in Business Luncheon on Aug. 30 will hear from Jenny Allen, the Relationship Manager for RCB Bank. Allen joined the RCB team in 2007 after serving in a number of management positions for non-financial firms. In June of 2015, Allen was recruited to join the Trust Department, and she now provides fiduciary, trust and investment management services to clients throughout Eastern Oklahoma. Outside the office, Allen volunteers with a number of local non-profits such the Rogers County Literacy Council and the Rogers County Fitness Program (ROCOFIT).
The turnout at these events indicates to Shere and her colleagues that there was a need for such event among local businesswomen.
“Our luncheon attendance is approaching 100 guests, and I hope that number continues to grow as more ladies find out about this networking opportunity,” Shere said.
